2016 Scholarships

We know that you want to go abroad and that you some financial assistance to get overseas is always helpful. But did you know that many scholarships go unused because students do not apply for them?! Don’t overlook the many fantastic scholarships that exist for education abroad. Scholarships may require some work, but in the end if it helps you achieve your dream of studying abroad, it’s totally worth the effort.

Below are just a few great scholarship opportunities that are available to you!

JU Experiential Learning Scholarship
Eligibility Requirements: Must be traditional undergraduate student; Must be applying for an EL program that is for credit; Must secure a faculty sponsor who approves the overall project. Students may also have a faculty member submit a letter of recommendation; Projects must be completed by the end of the summer 2016 term

Jacksonville World Affairs Council – McAfee Scholarship
Eligibility Reguirements: – full-time student attending Edward Waters College, Florida State College at Jacksonville, Jacksonville University or the University of North Florida; Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (undergraduate)/3.5 (graduate) on a 4.0 scale; Have been accepted to a specific international program (study abroad trip or foreign internship/volunteer project)
Deadline: March 11, 2016

Boren Award
Eligibility Requirements: US citizen, study of a foreign language, undergrad/grad student, academic credit, semester program minimum, interest in national security, 1 year government service commitment required
Deadline: February 9, 2016

Phi Kappa Phi (Session A)
Eligibility Requirements: undergraduate, campus with PKP chapter, program start date between May 1, 2016-November 30, 2016
Deadline: February 15, 2016

Foundation for Global Scholars GRIT Program
Eligibility Requirements: US citizen, age 18-30, track record of serving the community, 28 day minimum program, academic credit, intensive cultural immersion, time and ability to conduct the GRIT project
Deadline: open December 1, 2015 – February 19, 2016

Benjamin A. Gilman International ScholarshipEligibility Requirements: US citizen, Pell recipient, undergraduate, 28 day minimum, no Travel Warning List, academic credit
Deadline: March 1, 2016 for Summer 2016 and Fall 2016 and All Year 2016-2017
LewerMark Make Your Mark Scholarship
Eligibility Requirements: Inbound international student or outbound study abroad student
Deadline: March 1, 2016

Eligibility Requirements: US citizen or permanent resident, undergraduate with a 2.8 minimum GPA, 8 week minimum for summer, 12 week minimum for semester, program in Asia with academic credit, returning to campus for at least one semester, little experience in country of study, receive need based financial aid or demonstrate financial need
Deadline: March 1, 2016 for Summer 2016 / April 1, 2016 for Fall 2016 and All Year 2016-2017

Diversity Network Summer Scholarship
Eligibility Requirements: Full-time undergraduate or graduate, attend a Diversity Network member institution, minimum 2.75 GPA
Deadline: April 1, 2016 for Summer 2016
